The designated and guarded surfing beaches are 7th Street, 16th Street and Waverly Beach (in the north end). Surfing is permitted on all beaches when lifeguards are off duty.
Ocean City, NJ’s is a great place to surf which is evident from the long tradition of surfing in Ocean City. Our waves are consistent, safe and break well which allows for surfing every day of the week. The beaches are fairly flat and gradually slopped which makes the waves break better than other locations. Ocean City is known for its “clean” surfing with few potential hazards in and around the water. Perfect for learning, OC is a safe surfing environment. Surf contests, camps and board rentals are available at many locations.
